Green

I found this beautiful fatsia japonica leaf ( fam. Araliaceae) and got totally inspired to paint some green and decorate our home with it!

Winter green

I decorated our house with some winter green. Some branches I found at the park around the corner and some I bought at the local florist. I am still seeking for olive branches, but it turns out they are hard to find...

A winter themed collection. The card with the deer is from Lizzy Steward and the picture of the branches at the bottom left was taken by my husband.

All these vases are found at flea markets and second hand shops, they go so well together.

Most of these cushions I've made myself. They are made from fabrics from Atelier Brunette and the one with the reindeer pattern is made from Ikea fabric.

Even in our bedroom there is some green. I really love the Helleborus flower, unfortunately it's a plant who prefers to live outside, so every morning I place him at the windowsill of our bedroom.

Although it may look as if some of these photographs come from a magazine (at least, that's what I like to think), not all of our house is as tidy and finished as it looks here. That's the miracle of blogging. Life looks so much more organised and pretty! But if you could take a peek behind the scenes you would discover that our hallway is a jungle full of boxes, I am typing this post with the leg of my chair stuck in a hole in the ground (somebody took out a rotten wooden floor board and forgot to replace it) and our little garden is currently used as a garbage bin/storage space by our workmen.

A day in the life

It's been a while since I have written a new post. I've been very occupied with the renovations of our new home, which took way more time, energy and money than we've expected. And I am also struggling with some health issues, so I have to take it slow and put all the plans that I have on a very low pace. But I have read somewhere about people who are suffering from burn-out like problems that it's very important to keep doing things that inspire you and make you happy. So I've decided that, besides my daily meditation and yoga routine I also need to pick up my creative work again and blog more often about my life in general.

So here is the first issue about our new life in our beautiful new home. Now it's time to enjoy all the hard labour and finally I can start with my favorite part of the renovation adventure: decorating the house!

A cozy setting in our living room. The little cupboard belonged to my grandmother and it fits wonderfully well in here.

I am so happy with the white metro tiles on the wall.

Every day we try to go out for a walk in our new neighborhood.

Father and son, two pretty boys.

Oskar's shoe placed by the chimney for Sinterklaas. Alright, I admit, Jonathan's shoe and mine are there as well, we also are in desperate need for some chocolate after all the stress we have experienced.

While Oskar took his nap I made my first drawing after a very long time.

Our home

Recently we bought a house in the village of our dreams. I am very happy about it, but at the same time I notice a certain sadness in my heart because we are currently living in the house were I grew up as a child. It's a charming old house with a big wild garden with a gipsy wagon in the back and it has so many memories. I am slowly saying goodbye to it and try to memorize all it's little details. I came accross this beautiful photographs of Oskars bedroom. Jonathan made them right after we finished it and a day later he was born!

The room has a forest animal theme, bunnies, deers, foxes...

and offcourse a big friendly bear!

Some more vintage bears on a handmade wooden windowsill.

I also found these two photographs. I was heavily pregnant and heavily nesting: folding all the little baby clothes after they dried at the drying frame in our garden. Nice memories...

But offcourse I'm mostly excited about our new beginning. I look forward to design our new home, and I already  scketched nearly every room, including the furniture and decorations (:
