I found a picture of this girl in an old book. She was walking amongst the seaside in a gentle breeze and staring in the distance. I thought it was it a really poetic image. The dress I've made up myself, I would love to have one like this.
I saw this pretty duo on a little festival in our neighbourhood. That dress! I really would like to go out to a summer party in a dress like that. But I can't find it anywhere, so I am going to make one myself. And for a start I've painted it.
I always have a hard time to define a hipster. When we are walking on the street, I often ask my friend: 'Is this what you call a hipster?'. I would not know. But now, according to my friend I've painted one! Without knowing it. So here she is: a hipster girl at the beach. I found her on Pinterest which is hipster paradise, so I should have known.
Since 'summer' in this country mostly means lots of rain and grey days, I often see people still wearing their warm clothes. This girl was wearing a really pretty outfit, but with the copper-orange scarf and the long coat, you'd swear it's harvest.
Waiting for summer I've painted this girl on vacation. In my imagination she is sitting in the evening sun in a light summer breeze, somewhere near the seaside. She is loosely based on one of my dearest friends, who loves books and often wears funny socks.
