Shanti in progress #2

Yesterday Kim, the writer of Shanti had a meeting with some important people about our book. They were very enthousiastic about it, so that's really good news for us.

These coming weeks I will work hard to get the illustrations ready, and hopefully it will get published soon!

There's still some work to do on this one. The monkeys are still missing...

 here also...

and in this one too (:

This painting needs some more details. Like a pattern in the red part and other little things.

'Shanti' in progress

Some more nearly finished illustrations for the story of Shanti...

This last one still needs the most work. I have to fill in the details, like water -which I will draw with pencil-, a pattern in the green border and much more plants around the elephant. And -not to forget- wipe out the little smudges you see in the middle of the drawing. They happened when my baby Oskar did WHAAA, and I dropped my paint-brush ...

Working on the illustrations for 'Shanti'

I've been working on the illustrations for 'Shanti' whenever our little boy gave me a chance. Altough I had made such a great checklist, I've been working quite disorganised.

Some sketches are still in their early stage, while some others are nearing completion.  Below you can see an example of how I am making progress.

I'm still juggling with where to place the text. The concept of tekst and illustration -which have to work together both visualy and substantive- is very new to me, and it's a huge challenge I must say...

These little monkeys are the co-stars of the story. They have their own little world where they are doing nutty things and they add an extra dimension to the illustrations.
